K-12 Collaborative Overview AND VISION
The K-12 Collaborative is a new cohort of organizations working to transform the k-12 space by giving teachers, schools and districts, access to the most cutting edge curriculums, educational models and emerging philosophies. Eight organizations in the US and Uganda are launching on the Crew Platform this fall 2018!
Once we’ve built a foundation of trust, shared purpose, and shared infrastructure across our partner organizations, we will unleash a network solution called the Crew Classroom Marketplace. A place where the cohort can share curriculum, micro-certifications, activities, resources, and micro-grants with teachers and schools around the world. Creating one trusted hub for quality content, relationship building, and best practice sharing.
The end goal: To connect teachers, schools and districts to each other and the best curriculum, certifications and methodologies to transform education.
(For organizations working with college-age youth, check out the Youth Movement Collaborative.)
All K-12 Collaborative grantees receive free access to the Crew online platform; 1:1 support for platform adoption and customization; funding to ensure successful integration of the platform into your operations; and participation in an annual Community Engagement Gathering for all Technology Platform grantees.
1.THE CREW PLATFORM
For nearly a decade, the Crew Platform has successfully deepened and sustained the participation of young volunteers from a wide range of programs. It's an effective tool for program managers to support and collaborate with chapters and individual youth participants, as well as an easy-to-use tool for communities of changemakers to engage with their program, inspire one another to do and be more, and to find opportunities to grow their social impact projects
2. PROGRAM DESIGN & IMPLEMENTATION
The grant includes a 1-1 workshop designed to customize the platform to your organization's needs, optimize your community engagement methodology, and train your program managers to integrate platform management to their process to share resources, workshops and different engagement strategies.
In addition to receiving ongoing support from the Enlight Collaborative team, we connect Technology Platform grantees throughout the year to share best practices and resources, and to nurture a community of support that delivers benefits well beyond the platform.
3. IMPLEMENTATION FUNDS
The grant for our 2018-20 cohort included up to 30k over two years, for the purpose of ensuring the successful launch and adoption of the Crew Platform.
4. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT GATHERINGS
An annual in-person gathering to train and connect program managers who are the heart and soul of community engagement in their organizations. Travel and accommodations are included in the grant.
Grantees also have the option of requesting a half-day workshop for their team called "Difficult Conversations: The art and science of thinking together." The objectives of the workshop are to develop critical communication skills that allow us to build relationship and effectively collaborate across our differences. For organizations interested in the workshop, travel and related expenses for the workshop facilitator are also covered.
